    I can finally play again

    Hello, Some of you may remember me from a previous post I made 1 or 2 months ago (probably no one remebers me, but still) were i asked you guys what i could do to stop my tics (I've got tourette syndrome) from preventing me from playing. Most of you were really supportive and I was really happy to hear all of your replies and possible solutions. At the end, I had decided to stop playing the game for a while, in hopes that the tic that made me close my eyes shut for about 2/3 seconds every now and then went away or at least lowered its frequency. I stopped playing for not so long (maybe two or three weeks), but my hopes became true. Now, the tic stopped being so damn annoying. It's still there, but it's less frequent, so I'm able to actually play the game. Today I've made a pretty big achievement for myself: I've played well, and most importantly without the tic stopping me, for about 30 minutes. Now this may not seem like a lot, but for me it's a great improvement. I'm slowly re-learning how to play and re-discovering how fun this game is. Even though only a small percentage of you may care, i still wanted to tell you this, because I'm really happy that I'm finally back. Thank you for your time.

    hey, i'm not all that interested in making properly formatted posts but i thought i'd leave this here.

    i had a discord DM with Ephemeral about a month ago over GDPR regulations, and the staff are able to lawfully and do willingly keep a lot of your internal data used to prevent abuse and misdemeanors, and GDPR lets them do it (even when a user requests account deletion). it's called a "legitimate interest" clause and in short it's set in place to ensure a safe environment for any given service(s) (in this case, osu!), as well as client safety/client data safety ("clients" in this case refer to the players of the game, the o!store customers, etc).

    this clause lets them keep the data they create as a service as well, which includes any identifiable information about the client(s) (player(s)) in question, so as on the basis of protecting values, the community, the players, and themselves (where necessary).

    for more info on this, please refer to the privacy page that osu! has set up as an explicit declaration for this purpose. the bulk meat of this page can be boiled down to sections 2(a), 2(b), and 2(d) (under "information we collect"), which details the information they gather upon account registration, profile update, and logging into the osu! client itself.

    also useful are sections 2(f) and Section 3 ("Analytics and Logging" and "Disclosures of personal data", respectively), which boiled down detail how they use your information for logging analytical data (for improving osu!'s code and compatibility with different operating systems and platforms), and how/when they're allowed to disclose personal data in times of explicit requirement (fulfilling o!store orders, processing paypal/xsolla payments, etc).

    the reason i'm giving you all this is that a lot of people like to complain about something without fully knowing the reasoning as to why it is the way it is, and keeping account data is something i know the community is extremely touchy with. therefore, i am laying these terms out to you in plain black-and-white and as simple as i possibly can, and also so you people are able to go back to a post that has it summed up well enough and keep a mental note of why "x is like this" and why "y is like that".
